Been to Rote island is incomplete if you have not visited kampung Ndao, used called Sebelah Kali, a typical weaving craft center Rote in Ba’a. In this village, whose inhabitants are Ndao island residents who settled on the island of rote. Upon entering the village, we were greeted woven fabrics neatly lined up on the terracesvof the house. Almost the entire population of the village is living as craftsmen weaving.
Ikat Rote Ndao has been there for hundreds of years ago. Before knowing cotton, woven fabrics made of mother – of – pearl fiber material. The resulting woven sarong called Lambi Tei and blankets were called Lafa Tei, worn as daily wear and party clothes.
